Seasonal Summer Flowers

It’s hard to imagine that it is summer already! With this wet cool spring, we’ve noticed some of the flowers blooming later than usual here at Twiggage and Bloom, however, summer is upon us and the longest day of the year – which in this area means 16 hours, 17 minutes and 36 seconds of daylight on June 21! It also means we have the most amazing selection of flowers to choose for your summer wedding.

What flowers are in season?

For the big showy flowers, our first options in June are peonies and roses. By July and August, we have a beautiful selection of dahlias to choose from. Tucked in between these big bossy flowers, are the secondary players (giving texture, fragrance and nostalgia): Amaranth, Asters, Clematis, Cosmos, Delphiniums, Dianthus, Gomphrena, Hydrangea, Larkspur, Lilies, Lisianthus, Lupin, Lysimachia, Stocks-Matthiola, Orach, Foxglove, Salvia, Scabiosa, Snapdragons, Sunflowers, Sweet Peas, and Zinnias.

Signature Summer Elements

Finishing it off, are all the interesting frothy elements which give all Twiggage & Bloom arrangements our signature gathered-from-the-garden look: Ammi, Astilbe, Corn Flower, Daucus, Dill, Feverfew, Goldenrod, Grasses & Seeds, Phlox, Queen Anne’s Lace, Scabiosa, and Veronicas.

Summer foliage and greens

This is all supported by a selection of various twiggage including fresh and dried, with seasonal greenery from herbs (so fragrant!) to foliage (all shades of green, variegated, blue-green, grey, to burgundy and plum) , ornamental grasses, evergreens, plus ferns & mosses.

Seasonal surprises

If this late spring has taught us anything, it is that regardless of how much planning we do, sometimes Mother Nature has other plans! Knowing this, we offer a simple approach to choosing your flowers with a short selection of design style choices and colour palette choices. This way, we can harvest and design with the best flowers from the garden in preparation for your big day.

Whether you’re planning your special day to be indoors or outdoors (because we can never predict what the weather can do here on the West Coast, it’s good to have a rainy day backup plan), we have gorgeous flowers for you. Either way, we can design your personal flowers, arrangements, and ceremony showstoppers that evoke the summer wedding vibe.
