Flowers for a Garden-inspired Wedding

When this couple reached out to Twiggage & Bloom, they already had a clear vision for their wedding florals. The bride shared:

“I grew up in a small town on Vancouver island, and my grandparents helped raise my brother and I, and always kept a beautiful garden of flowers around our home growing up.”

After a simple consultation, the bride chose our Woodlands/Wildflowers design style, and a muted pastel palette — soft, delicate colours that would reflect her childhood garden.

“I’ve always dreamed of having flowers of all kinds and colours at my wedding to reflect the gardens I grew up playing in, and looking at your work I just instantly connected with it. We would love…to work together to decorate our wedding and bring the garden energy and colours inside our venue.”

Through emails, a Zoom call, and regular check-ins, we made her vision bloom exactly as she imagined.

Bringing the Garden Indoors

On the wedding day, the Twiggage & Bloom team packed up all the personal floral items — bridal and bridesmaids’ bouquets, boutonnieres, hairpieces, cake flowers — plus centrepieces and buckets of fresh blooms to design on-site. Working alongside the other vendors, we transformed Vancouver’s Heritage Hall — an ornate, century-old building with grand columns and stonework — into a lush, indoor garden.

To create an intimate, garden-like feel in such a grand space, we focused on the ceremony site. A lush, seven-foot-tall metal floral arch was built on-site with an abundance of June blooms, evoking the charm of an English country garden. A mid-June wedding brings out the best perennials: roses, peonies, foxtail lilies, and delphiniums. We used the last of the delicate ranunculus and the first striking foxtail lilies of the season. Tucked between were airy accents like chartreuse Lady’s Mantle, twinkling astrantia, and tiny spray roses, all supported by arching ferns, variegated greens, pastel spray mums, and fragrant stock and sweet peas.

Elegant compote centrepieces complemented the table linens and décor, while delicate bud vases tied the garden theme throughout the room.

The entire floral story felt like wandering through a well-tended, abundant garden — roses climbing arbours, spires of foxtail lilies and delphiniums reaching skyward, delicate perennials nodding in the breeze, and sweet pea vines dancing through it all. The pastel palette evoked hazy summer days and faded childhood photos — a garden dream brought indoors.
