Wedding Trends for 2025

Inclusive and Dynamic

It’s fascinating to see how cultures around the world celebrate weddings, and so fun to see the fusion of those rituals. Whether it’s in the halls of a traditional church or a sacred circle drawn in the sand; two folks say: “I do” and celebrate that love with friends and family. Traditions are being shaped new and inclusive to incorporate modern values where the couple, vows, ceremony, attendants, customs, and decor all get a refresh. It’s no surprise that flowers contribute to that day, as they have the world over. No longer reduced to simple table centrepieces and bouquets; flowers appear in swags, clouds, meadows, nests, cascades, garlands, and personal bling.

Experiential and Entertaining

In an AI augmented world; couples want to have a real tangible experience and show their guests a good time. Great food and dance are the classics, but how about live entertainment or midnight snack surprises? Signature cocktails and themed buffets are a clever way to meet the various dietary preferences of the treasured guests. Here, the flowers play a role as well with a spectacular display of a decorated arbour or arch. Flowers contribute a vibe that transcends the couple and guests from the mundane.

Make it Unique

Wedding attire is as hot as the latest fashion runway, with multiple costume changes throughout the day. Goodbye matchy-matchy, and hello individual and authentic. Floral bling (bouquets, boutonnieres, floral crowns, and corsages) remains but expands into riffs such as pocket boutonnieres, and floral collars for fido.

Colourful

As trends come and go, the wedding colour themes sway, and subsequently the choice of blooms. However, we see there’s a reason why white and green, and the favourite neutrals (pastels) are called classics. Bold punches of fully saturated colours are appearing in our inspirational feeds. Juicy tangerine, true peacock blue, popping bubble-gum pink, and electric magenta are all shouting ‘fiesta!’ and a ‘permission slip’ to celebrate. A skilled florist can find the seasonal blooms to match.

Textures

Next up, we see the incorporation textures (drapery, basketry, decor, and botanical elements). We love to tuck these goodies into the decor including: grasses, ferns, fruit, mosses, and even mushrooms! For West Coast weddings, this is an easy concept to expand on: think enchanting woodland garden.

Sustainability

We’re thrilled to see so much creativity in how to throw a big bash without stomping on the planet while doing so. With the environment as a priority, couples choose to factor in ‘happily ever after’…starting on their wedding day. Eco-conscious weddings are easier than ever to achieve by selecting vendors and venues that maintain those values. For florists, provenance (what is the true cost of imported blooms?) and climate change is a considered factor. In a Pinterest-influenced world, couple need to trust their florist to select what is fresh and best: this may include local flowers that are in season, anchoring time and place…and re-blooming every year on their anniversary!
