A Fairyland in the Forest: A May Wedding with Fields & Forests Florals

She Knew From the Start

Nine months before their wedding, the bride reached out asking if we’d be available to provide florals. She confided that ever since she attended one of our workshops a few years ago, she knew that she wanted Twiggage & Bloom to be the local, creative, floral contribution to her special day.

A Mood, Not a Mood Board

Instead of a Pinterest board, she chose a few select words to describe her preferred style and palette, entrusting us to use what was fresh and on theme. She was confident that we would convert a community hall nestled in an evergreen forest into a magical fairyland, using our creativity, talent, and skill. We used an abundance of local greenery, ferns, and ‘twiggage’ to achieve the ‘Fields and Forests’ mood, weaving the outdoors in.

Spring Ephemerals, Straight from the Farm

For a May wedding, the floral selection was in muted soft pastels, with a generous amount of twinkly spring ephemerals straight from the Twiggage & Bloom micro flower farm. Tucked into each arrangement were nodding Columbines (Aquilegia), fleeting Dame’s Rocket (Hesperis matronalis), delicate Avens (Geum), airy Foam Flower (Tiarella cordifolia), spiring Foxglove (Digitalis), and dancing grasses. Peach Roses, apricot Ranunculus, and blush specialty mums were used sparingly throughout — reminiscent of a flower-dotted woodland trail. To keep the palette light and heralding the freshness of spring, variegated Euonymus leaves and chartreuse Lady’s Mantle (Alchemilla mollis) clusters completed the look.

The À La Carte Package

The couple chose our À La Carte floral package ($1,500 minimum spend) with the additional local delivery option. This meant all the necessary florals were delivered to one location first thing in the morning. All the hands-on setup and placement was then done by family and friends, who mucked in, rolled up their sleeves, and spent hours decorating the hall and tidying up afterwards.

A Curated Look Without the Curated Price Tag

The À La Carte option is a brilliant, economical choice for couples who want a curated look without the curated price tag for two main reasons:

  • All items on the menu are standardized and can be easily handled by a competent helper. Some items, such as an ‘Aisle Meadow’ or ‘Arbour Swag,’ can even be repurposed from ceremony to reception by an enthusiastic helper. Many items like the centrepieces can also be sent home as gifts at the end of the evening.
  • The four design styles and four colour palettes are broad enough to achieve any ‘look and feel,’ and it is possible to create beauty in every season of the year with signature Twiggage & Bloom talent.
