It bloomed in Victorian times, when strict social rules didn\u2019t always allow people to say what they meant out loud. Even today\u2014though the classic floriography dictionary may be misplaced\u2014we all understand sending flowers for love, condolences, joy, or those moments when words feel awkward or a little lame. Because our program is barrier-free and open to the public in summer, my challenge was to make it affordable, accessible, and appropriate for everyone (ahem, a dozen red roses wouldn\u2019t cut it). So I compiled a \u201ccheat sheet\u201d: a list of phrases tied to the meanings of common cutting-garden flowers that grow easily in our climate. With it, any participant could compose a meaningful little poem.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1073\" data-end=\"1336\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1932\" src=\"https:\/\/www.twiggageandbloom.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Untitled-design-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"940\" height=\"788\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.twiggageandbloom.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Untitled-design-2.jpg 940w, https:\/\/www.twiggageandbloom.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Untitled-design-2-300x251.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.twiggageandbloom.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Untitled-design-2-768x644.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 940px) 100vw, 940px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1073\" data-end=\"1336\">Creativity Blooms<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1073\" data-end=\"1336\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">What delights me most is how diverse and personal the poems and posies (bouquets) turn out\u2014each one shaped by the chosen blooms and the order of the phrases.
