When this couple reached out to us to create flowers for their wedding, they had a clear idea of what vibe they wanted for their big day. A classic white wedding, with a hint of pastels and burnt orange, the colours and mood reminiscent of the last days of summer turning to fall.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Taking inspiration from the environment<\/h3>\n

This intimate wedding was held at an Airbnb nestled in the forest, in the backwoods of Mission, BC. The sprawling property had all the charm of a West Coast forest: mossy, fern covered groves, with ivy-clad tall evergreens. As floral designers, when we create floral beauty for an event, whether it’s indoors or out; we always consider the existing environment. On this occasion, there was an abundance of green, and we borrowed from that palette to add to our creation. A few locations were considered for this wedding, and we settled on the lawn, which was expansive enough to accommodate the ceremony with a wide aisle, and then reconfigured it to a reception with a dance floor in the centre of the space.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Bride<\/p>\n

Sustainable Floral Design<\/h3>\n

At Twiggage & Bloom, with the focus on sustainability at our core, reducing waste is a priority. We are huge fans of repurposing as much as possible. Having the ceremony and reception at the same location, made it easy to maximize the use of a stunning split arch for the ceremony which later became the backdrop for their head table. The centrepieces were first used as aisle pieces to flank the chairs for the guests. After the ceremony when the seating was reconfigured to accommodate the dining tables, the aisle flowers became table centerpieces. At the end of the night, they became take-home gifts. As well, all the bridal party bouquets were presented in vases, so that after the ceremony they could be used as table centrepieces for the head table. A smattering of petals were used as confetti; adding colour and sparkle to the space without polluting with tiny bits of plastic or glitter to the garden.<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Flower<\/p>\n

All of our designs are created with strict sustainability standards. This includes using local seasonal, and organically-grown flowers whenever possible. All our creations are made with foam-free mechanics, reducing single use plastics, reusing whenever possible, and composting of green waste.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beauty without waste<\/h3>\n

As part of our full service offering<\/a>, we provide \u2018strike\u2019 (also known as take-down) at the end of the event. Consistent with our ethos of sustainability, all the vegetative material is composted, the reusable materials cleaned and stored for the next event, and the true \u2018waste\u2019 is sorted out for disposal. We can proudly say that this important step yields a mere fistful of garbage (tape, zip-ties, plastic, and wire). All that is left are the memories and photos of an enchanting wedding in the forest.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was great working with Lexi! She was so friendly and knowledgeable and answered all my questions. We had a phone call prior to booking to talk through what I was envisioning, since I was a little hesitant because I didn’t see the style of flowers I was thinking for my wedding. In the end, the flowers turned out amazing and all our guests loved them (even mentioning it well after our wedding)! She even made it so that guests could take home the table centre pieces, that had doubled as the flowers down the aisle in the ceremony!\u201d -Val & David<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
